Many people help to support our worship at St Mary's

A new worship rota is produced every January, May and September (see the current rota here).  If you would like to to help please let either of the Church Wardens know or mail us via the Contact Us page, so the next time we plan a new rota we will send you an availability form so that you can indicate what you would like to do, and when you are available.

Reading

Reading from the Bible at our services.

The text of readings for most services are provided in a booklet of readings provided to members of the congregation. Please either read from this booklet or from the NSRV Lectern Book. If you want to check or print the text of the reading use http:bible.oremus.org.

For Matins and Evensong the King James Bible may still be used.

Welcomers

Welcoming people to our worship will typically include

  • Assisting the Church Wardens in preparing the Church for worship
  • Playing the recorded bells for 20 mins prior to the start of the service, and to ring the Church bell 5 mins before the service.
  • Welcome members of the congregation as they arrive, handing out the order of service, hymn book and a copy of Pew News.

Prayers

Leading prayers of intercession.
